Above: On the left, the postcard for Alvin Lustig's cover for "Paterson" by William Carlos Williams (New Directions, 1951) which inspired the cover design for the resume book, which I also made into the postcard on the right. From a set of Lustig cover postcards picked up at McNally Jackson.
This "book" was originally created in 2013, as I was leaving Welcome Books after a downsizing prior to their acquisition by Rizzoli. Since then, I designed the book jackets included in the book. Also, the resume in the book is my publicity resume from 2021. In order to upload to a free version of ISSUU, two spreads were deleted from the flip-book: the RESUME book jacket and the one about my music and LGBT publicity work.s
All spreads, including the two missing from the flip-book are below. To enlarge and view as a slideshow, click or tap on the first image and use the arrows or swipe to navigate.
From 2011 - 2014 I was VP Publicity for Welcome Books, one of the 30 or so client publishers distributed by Random House, now Penguin Random House. Welcome published a variety of visual books, from cookbooks to travel and art. After they downsized (they were sold to Rizzoli), I chose to present my career as book publicist as a coffee table book—RESUME. By the time I finished it, I decided I wanted to add "book designer" to my repertoire and added 5 book jackets in 2015. All abstract photos within are mine (tar on suburban blacktop, believe it or not). The cover was inspired by the work of designer Alvin Lustig, in specifically, his cover for William Carlos Williams “Paterson.”
